Oven Baked Tilapia with Butter, Lemon, and Chervil

Patricia @ ButterYum

This is a really easy way to prepare tilapia.  The recipe calls for dried chervil (or parsley), making it a great dinner option when you don't have fresh herbs in the house.  And it's fast too - from start to finish, you can have this dish on the table in about 30 minutes.  It's a must try.

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice

  • salt and pepper to taste

  • 1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon dried chervil (see note below)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375F.

  2. Spray a 9x13-inch casserole dish with nonstick cooking spray.

  3. Place fish fillets in a single layer, overlapping slightly; sprinkle with salt and pepper.

  4. Melt butter and stir in lemon juice; pour over fillets.

  5. Bake uncovered for 10-15 minutes or until the internal temperature in the thickest part of the of the fillet reaches 140F.

  6. Remove casserole dish from oven and sprinkle fillets with dried chervil; rest 5 minutes before serving.

Note

  • Chervil, which is related to parsley, has a delicate flavor and is used extensively in French cuisine.  Parsley may be substituted.
